Independence Day 2, the sequel to the 1996 movie The Independence Day, is all set to be start shooting. All the actors have got together in the place. People are generally very excited that a sequence to this hit movie is under way, but a strong reaction has been seen from the fans of Mae Whitman as her role has been given to Maika Monroe instead.
While Whitman has really impressed her fans in the recent comedy movie The Duff, resources tell us that her role was awarded to Monroe as she has a greater sex appeal and has the exact level of hotness which the character demands. The Hollywood Reporter claims that the director Ronald Emmerich had not even considered the idea of casting Whitman in the movie.
Maika Monroe is to portray the character of Patricia, who is all grown up in Independence Day 2. She will be romancing with Liam Hemsworth on screen in the much anticipated sequel. Monroe has already starred in hit movies like It Follows, Labor Day, The Bling Ring, At Any Price, The Guest and Echoes of War. The hot yet talented actress debuted in Hollywood three years back in 2012.
While Whitman may not be the part of the Independence Day franchise anymore, several of the old characters like Judd Hirsch, Jeff Goldblum and Bill Pullman – the President and Patricia’s father in the movie – are making a comeback.
